Monday- Work Day #1

warming up for the day! "It's going to be a GREAT day..."
Stuart Evans is set to arrive just after lunch.  The construction crew got set up with yard work around the mission while Allen Hardin and I took measurements and purchased supplies from Roger's Hardware in Stanton (about 15 min. away).  One crew was sent to Mitch and Brenda Humphrey's to assist with their 5 children. names changed.
*This family has a 9 year old boy, 5 yo and 3 yo brothers and a 5 mo sister, and a brand new 3 week old baby.  The brothers and sister are in process of being adopted from the foster care system. They are living in a single-wide trailer not far from the Nada Mission.  One of the big projects for the summer is to build an addition onto their trailer.  We helped build two rooms and a bathroom.  There will be a group from FBC Jasper, GA in this week working around the clock to finish the addition.*
Another part of the team was going door-to-door to invite the community to our cook-out that afternoon.  Stu arrived around lunchtime.  He took a group up the hill to work at the Hall's.  They were adding a section of railing 24' long, adding a step and shoring up the existing railing.

Allen took a crew to work at the home of Mrs. Frankie Godsey to add a short 3' section of railing and a couple of steps to her porch.  Allen's team finished their railing so they will be on a new project on Tuesday.

Kyle came up to Stuart's crew where I was to pick me up and we headed back to the mission to begin grilling hamburgers.  Kyle and i had dueling grills.  He had me pick a number between 1 and 10  for the long spatula.  I lost, so I got to pick the grill.  Of course I chose the hot grill and we proceeded to cook hamburgers and hot dogs.  The smoke was intense, but I was glad to do it.  I threw on a couple of spicy black bean burgers for Michaela and Kaitlyn. Then, I ended up having a couple of those myself.  They were good.  Thank you, Michaela, for ensuring we would have those.
Grill masters!

When we got back to the lodge we shared roses, thorns, and gold stars with the group.  Kyle led a devotion and passed out the Bible Study book that we would be using for the week.  After the devotion we got out puzzle #1 to begin work.  I was glad to have brought the puzzles as they proved to be a good gathering activity.
